OPENING THE DOOR TO
A NEW REALITY:
MY JOURNEY AS A BEGINNER EVP RECORDER
By Wanda Ramirez
Below are five of Wanda's EVP's.
The first is her isolation using WavePad. The second is what we did with
Acoustica.

Wanda's
daughter told the spirits (in Spanish) that she was going to sit
down. This is the reply she received. |

two voices. A man and a woman. The man says, "Come on run" and
the woman replies with "You have to stop". |

I have to admit it - my interest in the
field of EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) recording was triggered by the
effect the DVD movie "White Noise" had on me. I knew very early in my
life that communication with the "dead" was possible. My grandmother was
a medium, clairvoyant and clairaudient. That's how I knew first hand
about communicating with those on the other side of the veil.
First thing I did before
recording EVP was research. I searched the Internet for information on
the topic and I found very good sites on it such as World ITC. I learned
about the general rules and precautions associated with EVP
experimenting. Then, I listened to sample EVP recordings (available
through these sites) in order to "train my ear" to distinguish them
after recording. Finally, I began recording when I felt ready to do so.
Before I move on to my recordings, I want to share some
of the general rules and precautions with you. These are, for me, very
important - especially for beginners - to bear in mind.
Beginning the session with a prayer or meditation,
depending on your spiritual beliefs helps set up a positive environment.
This will attract positive Spirits and repel negative ones. It is said
that personality prevails in the afterlife. There are positive people
here and negative people here and spirits on the other side also have
these characteristics. You want only the positive spirits to be a part
of your sessions.
Be respectful of the Spirits you are trying to
communicate with. Greet them, invite them to come close and to
communicate should they choose. Always explain what you are doing and
ask their permission to record them. Never be rude when asking questions
and always thank them for attending once you close your session.
Only record if
you are feeling good and balanced. If you are sad, angry, tired,
worried, or just in a bad mood, you will attract like minded spirits.
This goes back to the first precaution of attempting to attract only
positive spirits.
If you are recording and
suddenly begin to feel frightened or nervous, try prayer or meditation
before ending the session. If the prayer and meditation do not work, and
the uneasiness you feel is growing, do not hesitate to end the session.
Relaxation for
one to two hours before recording is a good idea if possible. Only
record if you are feeling calm and composed.
Work on staying balanced
all day every day. The more you practice this kind of attitude, the more
of a reality it will become. This will help you attract positive Spirits
as they seem to prefer emotionally balanced individuals.
Take your recording seriously. Do not do it just for
fun or just out of curiosity, but realize that when you begin, you are
working to educate others just as the Spirit World wishes to educate us.
Understand that this is your contribution to mankind in helping prepare
others for the afterlife.
I began using a micro cassette recorder - model GE
3-5383 with voice activation recording and integrated microphone as well
as input for an outside microphone. With the latter, I did my first
recording using white noise from a battery operated radio. Needless to
say, after playing back the recording, the only think I could hear was
the hissing sound of the white noise. I kept recording for a couple of
nights without any apparent success.
Frustrated over "not getting anything" in my
recordings, I did some more research. I found that I needed a sound
editing program. I found WavePad -
www.nch.com.au and downloaded the free
basic version which, by the way, is perfect for beginners. I read that
recordings could be transferred into the computer using a monostereo
cable. I transferred all of my micro cassette recordings to the computer
and analyzed them bit by bit using the WavePad application. That's when
I began finding voices in the recordings that I thought had only
recorded white noise.
I, then, decided to experiment using the computer to
record through the WavePad application. I continued to use white noise.
From what I've read, Spirits use the white noise to form the voices.
Other sources useful for the Spirits to form the voices are fans or
running water. I always have a fan on in the area where I record,
therefore, I believe they might have used that too. How they use the
noise source I can't explain, but in my experience, the voices did form
as explained in the literature on this topic.
After transferring my first recording to the computer,
to my surprise, I found my first message in that recording (the one I
thought had nothing in it!) It is the voice of a woman saying in a very
whispery voice, "Listen. She does that". The actual message is in
Spanish which is my main language. Imagine the joy that ran through me!
Not only had I received a message, but this woman apparently understood
what I was doing!
Another significant recording is the voice of a man
saying (translation), "She thinks about us. At least there is hope."
This message touched my soul in a very special way.
One very sweet recording is the one I did one Saturday
evening. My eleven year old daughter accompanied me in this session. I
explained to my daughter that it was customary to announce any noise
made by the recording session participants in order to avoid false
positives. In this recording, you can hear my daughter announce that she
was about to sit down (the chair that she was going to sit in is a
wooden chair that creaks). My daughter said, "Excuse me, I'm going to
sit down." You can hear the sweet voice of a child reply, "Okay!"
I have also received messages in English as I am
bilingual. With that, I have been able to confirm that recorders will
receive messages in the languages they understand. One message in
English is the voice of a man saying, "Come on, run!" and a woman
replies to him, "You've got to stop!"
But, the most thrilling message is the one where a
young man called my name, "Wan...da". For me, this represented
acknowledgement from them.
While doing my research prior to beginning recording
EVP, I read two books that explained the theory of Spirits communicating
in languages understood by the recorder. I consider these books "basic"
reading for the field. These books are available free and online through
www.worlditc.com.
The books are: "Breakthroughs in Technical Spirit
Communication" by Dr. Theo Locher (of Switzerland) and by Maggy
Harsch-Fischbach (of Luxemburg), translated to English by Hans Heeckmann
and edited by Mark Macy (of USA - you must have heard about him in the
field of EVP). The other book is "Bridge Between the Terrestrial and the
Beyond" by Hildegard Schafer. Some examples mentioned in these books
about Spirits' communications in languages understood by the recorder
include:
Friedrich Jurgenson (began recording in 1959) -
Languages he understood and received messages in include Russian,
Esthonian and German.
Dr. Konstatin Raudive (began recording in 1965) - Dr.
Raudive was a Latvian psychologist. He was a polyglot (i.e., spoke many
languages). He received messages in Spanish, English, German, Swedish,
French among many other languages. A very interesting case this is,
don't you think?
Also, another very good book is "There Is No Death and
There Are No Death", by Tom and Lisa Butler (this one I bought at the
bookstore). They also address this theory and mention Anabella Cardoso
(Portugal's general consul in the Rhone-Alps). Her main language is
Portuguese, but she has received messages in other languages understood
by her.
I have been very disciplined when recording. It is
important to follow certain rules such as initiating your sessions with
a meditation or prayer and to avoid recording when your emotions are not
balanced.
EVP is an exciting field - a door to profound
understanding. Approach it wisely with a lot of love and a lot of
respect. |
